Fishing at the Lahngangsee
GrundlseeThe Lahngangsee in the Ausseerland is a high alpine fishing area in Styria, which, with its remote location, crystal-clear water, and an ancient lake trout population, represents an exclusive destination for sport fishermen in the Ausseerland Salzkammergut.
The Vordere Lahngangsee is located at approximately 1,490 m above sea level in the Totes Gebirge and is only accessible on foot. The hike, which takes about an hour, is rewarded with a unique nature experience: The lake is known for its primitive population of lake whitefish, which are considered genetically particularly valuable.
The fishing season at the Lahngangsee is strictly regulated and lasts from July 1st to August 31st. Fishing is permitted only during daylight hours and only in the company of Karin and Rupert Wilpernig.
Both day trips and multi-day stays with overnight accommodation in the simple fishing hut directly at the lake are offered, which accommodates up to four people.
For fishing at the Lahngangsee, a valid guest fishing card Steiermark or fishing card Steiermark is required. The fishing license can be obtained directly from the Wilpernig family.
The Lahngangsee is part of the Ausseerland in Styria and offers not only an exclusive fishing experience but also a deep insight into alpine nature.
