Kutscherstüberl Wallner
RiegersburgThe Kutscherstüberl offers space for 100 people and impresses with a varied menu of Styrian classics, a unique rustic ambience and homemade pastries.
The Riegersburg Kutscher-Wirt
Just 50 meters from the Riegersburg lake bath and nestled at the foot of Hofberg leading up to Riegersburg Castle, you'll find the charming inn run by Eveline and Martin Wallner. The "Kutscherstüberl" takes its name from the Wallners' passion for horses – right next to the restaurant live four Noriker horses, which are occasionally hitched to a traditional carriage for special outings. Martin Wallner himself takes the reins, guiding guests to the scenic highlights of the Riegersburg region.
But Martin also sets the tone in the kitchen: the Kutscherstüberl is well-known across the Thermen- and Vulkanland for its delicious grilled specialties – from fish to steak. The menu changes with the seasons and includes traditional regional dishes such as Bluttommerl, Breinwurst, and roast pork. Timeless classics like Styrian fried chicken or hearty goulash are available year-round. Ingredients are sourced from local producers, including the Kulmer fish farm and the Gölles distillery.
In the cozy dining room, Eveline Wallner ensures guests are well taken care of and is happy to recommend a suitable wine from the Vulkanland Steiermark DAC selection. And don’t forget to save room for their divine "Kardinalschnitte" or other homemade pastries – definitely worth the indulgence!
By the way: From June to August, the Kutscherstüberl hosts a Styrian Grill Night every Friday from 5:00 p.m. – a must-visit for fans of regional cuisine.
