Weingut Buschenschank Bernhart
RiegersburgOur castle wines are more than just wines - they are a tribute to Riegersburg Castle and its impressive history.
The history of our winery can be traced back through 17 generations. Our ancestors, then known as the Kickenweiz family, began cultivating wine for the church here on the Hofberg. Our work—and therefore our wines—are closely connected to the village of Riegersburg. While rooted in tradition, our wines also capture the spirit of the times—deeply grounded, fully alive.
As a small but refined family-run estate, we cultivate around eleven hectares of vineyards—three of which are located on the slopes of Riegersburg. A great deal of teamwork and manual labor goes into our work. In the wine cellar, Josef Nestelberger—cellar master, brother-in-law, and son-in-law of the family—sets the tone. With passion and authenticity, he is always focused on bringing out the best in every single grape.
We are especially proud of our Burgweine: powerful, elegant wines that thrive on the steep, mineral-rich slopes of Riegersburg. These exceptional wines reflect the unique terroir of the Vulkanland region—shaped by volcanic soils, intense sunshine, and genuine handcraft. In the cellar, Josef Nestelberger ensures with great sensitivity and dedication that each grape can reach its full potential.
