This family-friendly hike leads from Tauplitz through an idyllic valley to the Gnanitzalm and is perfect for hiking with children in Styria. Thanks to the wide, well-surfaced paths, the tour is also pushchair-friendly.

The starting point is at the village square in Tauplitz. A narrow asphalt road leads in an easterly direction to the bypass road. After crossing the road, the trail continues straight ahead past the Tauplitz swimming pool. The gently ascending path repeatedly offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.

After around two kilometers, a small chapel appears - a perfect place for a short rest. The Gnanitzstraße continues past the turn-off to the Tauplitz waterfall and the picturesque Sagtümpel pond. If you want to admire the waterfall up close, you can choose the slightly more challenging forest path - but this is not pram-friendly.

After another two kilometers, there is a barrier with a parking lot. It is also possible to reach this point by car. The route then follows a wide forest road along the Grimmingbach stream. After around 50 minutes on foot, the landscape opens up and the Gnanitzalm with its two serviced huts invites you to stop for a break. Regional specialties and a cosy atmosphere make the stop particularly worthwhile.

The way back follows the same route back to Tauplitz.

If you want to enjoy the nature experience in Ausseerland even more intensively, you can use the hiking map store or request a free Ausseerland hiking map for further family hikes in Ausseerland.

From the train station Tauplitz you can reach the village center in about 20 minutes on foot. A bus stop is located directly at the village square in Tauplitz.

Free parking is available at the entrance to Tauplitz.
