This varied hike in Tauplitz combines impressive natural landscapes with relaxing resting places and informative stations. The circular trail leads along idyllic streams, through dense forests and past spectacular photo spots such as the thundering Tauplitz waterfall and the tranquil Sagtümpel pond. Ten well-signposted stations offer exciting insights into the natural and cultural landscape of the region.
Starting point: Tauplitz village square The trail starts at Tauplitz village square, where a large information board provides all the important details about the circular trail. Further information about the region is available directly opposite at the tourist office. Alternatively, the tour can also be started at the large parking lot next to the bypass.
Grimmingblick - majestic view
From here, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Grimming, the region's imposing limestone giant. At a height of 2,351 meters, it dominates the landscape and is one of the most impressive mountains in the hiking region.
Forest bathing at the Leinsteg
The quiet section at the Leinsteg invites you to enjoy a special form of relaxation: Shinrin Yoku - Japanese forest bathing. The calming effect of the forest ensures inner peace and relaxation.
The Tauplitz waterfall - experience the power of nature
The Tauplitz waterfall is a highlight of the hiking route. At 30 meters high, it is known as the “heart of the forest”. The power of the water can be experienced up close on the comfortable benches.
Sagtümpel - mystical spring lake
The Sagtümpel is a rare karst spring and is shrouded in a mystical folk legend. The water here rises directly from the depths and offers impressive scenery.
Freiberg rest area
With magnificent panoramic views of the Grimming and the surrounding area, the Freiberg rest area offers an ideal opportunity to relax. Information boards provide information about the Tauplitzalm hiking area, the 6-lake hike and other outdoor activities.
Cross-country ski trail entrance - a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts
This is the entrance to the 6.5 km Freiberg cross-country ski trail, which offers slightly hilly terrain and fantastic views. Additional information about the Tauplitz cross-country ski trails and the snow-sure Tauplitzalm high-altitude trail can be found on site.
Barbecue area - enjoyment at the end of the tour
The circular trail ends at the barbecue area, where a cozy fireplace invites you to enjoy a convivial finale. Charcoal and food are available at the nearby SPAR.
Extension for ambitious hikers: Lieglloch
If you want to take a longer tour, you can explore the Lieglloch, an impressive cave with fantastic views. The ascent takes around 2 hours and leads via the “Neff” farmstead. Alternatively, you can take the 4-seater chairlift up or down.
A cozy finale at the Pfannerhütte
To round off the tour, you can stop off at the Pfannerhütte. The rustic hut offers regional specialties and a magnificent view of Tauplitz and the Grimming.
