River and Adventure

A relaxed cycling tour with just the right mix of action and relaxation. Following the water all the way, you can enjoy a leisurely ride with perfect opportunities to cool off at Copacabana, Lake Schwarzl, and the Wildon bathing pond. And if you're looking for an adrenaline rush, Jump25 and Styria Karting are the places to go to really burn off some energy.

Kalsdorf bei Graz is both the starting and ending point of this relaxed cycling tour – making it the perfect place to pick up a healthy snack at Haindl Mühle or Berghofer Farmery before you head out (although there are plenty of places to stop for food and drinks along the way – you certainly won’t go hungry or thirsty!).

Our tour begins on the Murradweg R2, probably the best-known and longest cycle path in Styria. After a few kilometers, we turn onto the Erzherzog Johann Cycle Path R9. Want to take a break for some action or culture now, or save it for later? You'll pass right by Styria Karting, the Austrian Sculpture Park, and Lake Schwarzl on the way toward Premstätten. In Dobl, the historic radio transmission tower catches the eye.

From Muttendorf, the Kainachtal Cycle Path R14 follows the Kainach River, past the hidden gem of Schloss Pöls. A short climb leads up to Pöls an der Wieserbahn, and from there the route continues over Kühberg and Hengsberg, offering sweeping views of the Graz Basin, the mountains of Western Styria, and Mount Schöckl.

You can even spot remnants of Roman burial mounds right next to the path before reaching Weitendorf. In Wildon, you might want to jump into the refreshing water – the popular swimming and recreation pond is located right along the route.

The tour then returns leisurely to Kalsdorf bei Graz along the Murradweg, through the distinctive floodplain landscape of the Murauen – with plenty of charming wine taverns (Buschenschänken) and cozy spots to take a break.
