Ligister E-Bike Tour Berg & Wein

Ligist E-Bike Tour – From the Mountains to the Vines: A beautiful cycling tour around Ligist, reaching up to the foot of the Reinischkogel mountain and offering sensational panoramic views across the Lipizzanerheimat, the Pack and Stubalpe ranges, the Gleinalm, and even the Schöckl.

At the end of the tour, pleasure seekers will be rewarded with inviting inns, scenic vineyards, and excellent rustic wine taverns (*Buschenschänken*) – after all, Ligist lies at the start of the famous Schilcher Wine Road.

We especially recommend this tour for e-bikers, as a fully charged battery lets you effortlessly enjoy a rich variety of landscapes in a short time – from alpine-like terrain, shady forests, and rushing streams to charming vineyards and orchards. The panoramic views are particularly impressive, stretching from the Graz Basin to the Schöckl, and across the rolling hills of the Lipizzanerheimat to the Pack, Stubalpe, and Gleinalm mountains.

To ensure the hills around Ligist are not underestimated, the tour begins with a steep climb to the ruins of Ligist-Lubgast Castle. From there, the panoramic route continues past Wartenstein and down the so-called “Milky Way” (named for the many cows) to the old mill (*Alte Mühle*). The path then climbs again, offering fantastic views up to the foot of the Reinischkogel, where you’ll reach the well-known Enzianhof nature hotel in Oberwald.

From there, the route leads through forests to the start of the Schilcher Wine Road, where vineyards, orchards, a beekeeping farm, and welcoming *Buschenschänken* await thirsty cyclists. After a stop at the popular Zach wine tavern, the route continues to Dietenberg. Here, the Celtic House (*Keltenhaus*) tells the story of the region’s ancient past.

Don’t be discouraged by the next short but steep climb – at the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views and a hearty platter (*Brettljause*) at the Kremser-Greitbauer *Buschenschank*. From here, it’s an easy descent back to the welcoming market town of Ligist, where several inns and cafés await you at the main square. And if you still have energy, a short detour to the Dokter *Buschenschank* is well worth it – to enjoy the views, the wine, and delicious homemade specialties one last time.
