The Culinary Mountain Tour in Semriach!
Take a deep breath of fresh mountain air and enjoy a scenic circular route with breathtaking panoramic views and plenty of authentic regional cuisine in the Graz mountain region.
Not to be missed: the Lurgrotte Semriach – Austria’s largest dripstone cave!
The tour begins at “Der Trattner – Hotel Schöcklblick,” offering a wonderful view of Graz’s local mountain, the Schöckl. From there, the route leads past renovated farmhouses adorned with flowers, heading north along Schöcklstraße. The panoramic road offers impressive views of the mountains of western Styria and the Hochschwab region.
The route continues via Ritzendorf, Anger bei Passail, and Hinterleitenstraße to Rechbergdorf and Gasthof Brandlhof, where you’ll enjoy a stunning view of the Almenland, including Teichalm and Sommeralm. From here, the path heads toward Semriach, with a side trip to Niedertrötsch.
Tip: A short walk to the “Oldi Hulzhitt’n” on Fragnerberg and the Friedenskreuz is well worth it. The tour continues past Gasthof Parz-Trötschwirt and Dreihöfen to Gasthaus Häuserl im Wald – the perfect place to recharge with a traditional Semriach soup.
From Semriach-Pöllau, the route leads to the Lurgrotte – Austria’s largest dripstone cave. The tour concludes with a relaxing break at the main square in Semriach, ideal for a visit to a local bakery or café.
