Power place hike 2: Rantensee
A wonderful hike with picturesque landscapes around the beautiful Rantensee
Nestled in the gentle alpine pastures and dense forests of the Styrian Krakow lies the Rantensee - an idyllic mountain lake that delights with its tranquillity and natural beauty. Situated at around 1,700 meters above sea level, it is a popular excursion destination for hikers, nature lovers and anyone who wants to get away from it all.
The path to Lake Rantensee leads through an impressive landscape: dense spruce and larch forests, flowering alpine meadows and a clear mountain stream accompany hikers all the way to their destination. The ascent itself is an experience that is rewarded with views of the surrounding mountains. Once you reach the lake, a dreamlike backdrop opens up: The crystal-clear water reflects the peaks of the Schladminger Tauern, surrounded only by silence, birdsong and the gentle lapping of the water.
In summer, the Rantensee lake beckons with its refreshing clarity, even if the water temperatures are more suitable for the brave. In autumn, the surroundings are transformed into a play of colors of gold, red and orange - a real feast for the eyes.
Lake Rantensee is not only a pure nature experience, but also a place to slow down. No major infrastructure, no noise - just nature. That's what makes it so special. Anyone who has been there once often returns - whether to hike, linger or simply to take a deep breath.
